Accounting and Finance Advanced Diploma

Graduates of Seneca's Accounting and Finance Advanced Diploma with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) will be eligible for transfer credit consideration, and upon admission granted 57 transfer credits into the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Degree.

Graduates who meet admission requirements, which may include a higher grade point average, and maintain a 'C' or better in every course completed are eligible for 57 transfer credits.

Accounting Diploma

Graduates of Seneca's Accounting and Finance Advanced Diploma with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) will be eligible for transfer credit consideration, and upon admission granted 45 transfer credits into the Honours Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Degree.

Graduates who meet admission requirements, which may include a higher grade point average, and maintain a 'C' or better in every course completed are eligible for 45 transfer credits. Acting for Camera and Voice Diploma

Students currently enrolled in Seneca’s Acting for Camera and Voice diploma are eligible for admission and to be enrolled in degree programs at York University. Students may apply to York University to take up to 12 credits in the BFA program while they pursue their Acting for Camera and Voice studies at Seneca College, provided they have completed all 1st and 2nd semester courses and have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 (B or 70%). Students may enrol in the summer session between first and second year and/or in the summer after the completion of their Seneca College diploma. Students who do not complete their Acting for Camera and Voice diploma program will not be eligible for 48 block credits upon transfer.

Graduates of the Acting for Camera and Voice diploma at Seneca College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and who have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements, will be granted a block of 48 credits when entering the BFA degree program in the Faculty of Arts, Media, Performance and Design at York University. Graduates who have taken the 12 additional York credits while completing their Acting for Camera and Voice diploma may therefore earn up to 60 credits upon transfer.

Students must earn a minimum 120 credits to complete an Honours degree at York University and depending on the course waivers and the degree program chosen, a student may be required to complete more than 120 credits to graduate.

Arts and Science University Transfer Diploma

Graduates of Seneca's Arts and Science University Transfer Diploma program with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) or 3.3 (B+ or 75%) (depending on the York University program) will be eligible for admission consideration, and granted a block of 48 transfer credits into any York University degree program (except for the Schulich BBA and IBBA degree programs). Applicants will also need to meet any additional program specific admission requirements.

Students enrolled in Seneca's Arts and Science University Transfer Diploma program may apply to take up to 12 York credits while they complete their program. To be eligible, students must have completed all 1st and 2nd semester courses of the Arts and Science University Transfer Diploma program, be enrolled in required 3rd semester courses and have an overall GPA of at least 3.3 (B+ or 75%).

Graduates of the aforementioned Seneca program who have completed the maximum 12 additional York University courses while pursuing their program, may receive a total of 60 York University credits (including the 48 block credits).

Note: Graduates of Seneca's Arts and Science University Transfer Diploma program are deemed to have satisfied the pre-requisites equivalent to: Mathematics (MHF4U, MCV4U), Chemistry (SCH4U), Biology (SBI4U) and Physics (SPH4U). These may be required for York programs in the Faculty of Health, the Faculty of Science and the Lassonde School of Engineering.

Seneca’s Graduate Certificate in Advanced Investigates and Enforcement is open to graduates of the Honours Bachelor of Disaster and Emergency Management; Bachelor of Disaster and Emergency Management; the Honours Bachelor of Arts in Criminology; and the Bachelor of Arts, Law & Society programs at York, including students completing double majors or major/minor options.

Graduates from other York degrees with strong knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Code/ Criminal Law will also be eligible to apply.

York University graduates must have a minimum grade point average of 4.0 at York, the equivalent of a 2.0 (C, 60—64%) on a 4.0 scale.

Biotechnology Advanced Diploma

Graduates of Seneca's Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program with a minimum grade point average of 3.3 (B+ or 75%) will be eligible for admission consideration, and granted a block of 51 transfer credits into the Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology degree. 

Students enrolled in Seneca's Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program will be allowed to register for BIOL 1001 3.0 and BIOL 2040 3.0 at York University (normally during the summer term after years one and two of the program) while they pursue their Diploma at Seneca College. To be eligible, students must have completed all 1st and 2nd semester courses of the Biotechnology Advanced Diploma program and have an overall GPA of at least 3.3 (B+ or 75%). Students who have completed 1st semester courses and are enrolled in 2nd semester, may be also be conditionally admitted with an overall GPA of at least 3.3 (B+ or 75%) so long as they meet any additional program specific admission requirements.

Students may need to complete more than the minimum of 69 York credits for a total of 120 credits to meet Honours degree requirements at York University.

Behavioural Science Diploma

Seneca’s Behavioral Sciences Diploma program is open to Honours Bachelor of Arts and Honours Bachelor of Science, (120-credit) Psychology and Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science, (90-credit) Psychology degree students from York University.

Students from other York degree programs with strong academic and career interest in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) will also be eligible to apply. York University students must have a minimum grade point average of 4.0 at York, the equivalent of a 2.0 (C, 60—64%) on a 4.0 scale.

Chemical Laboratory Technology - Pharmaceutical or Chemical Engineering Technology Advanced Diploma

Graduates of Seneca's Chemical Laboratory Technology - Pharmaceutical or Chemical Engineering Technology Advanced Diploma programs with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) will be eligible for admission consideration, and granted 51 transfer credits into the Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Chemistry (multiple majors available).

Child and Youth Care Advanced Diploma

Students who have graduated in the past three years from the Child and Youth Care Advanced Diploma program at Seneca College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements may be considered for admission to enrol in the BA in Educational Studies program or BA Psychology (Glendon), or any BA program at York and granted a total block of 48 transfer credits. Therefore, transferring students will be required to complete a minimum of 72 credits to meet the degree requirements for the Honours BA.

Seneca’s Honours Bachelor of Crime and Intelligence Analysis degree is open to graduates of the Honours Bachelor of Arts, Criminology; Honours Bachelor of Public Administration; Honours Bachelor of Arts, Political Science; Bachelor of Arts, Political Science; Honours Bachelor of Arts, Sociology; and Bachelor of Arts, Sociology, including students completing double majors or major/minor options.

Students must be graduates from York University to be eligible to participate in this arrangement. Graduates from other York degrees with strong academic and career interest in public safety/tactical crime and intelligence analysis will also be eligible to apply.

York University graduates must have a minimum grade point average of 4.0 at York, the equivalent of a 2.5 (C+, 65—69%) on a 4.0 scale.

Early Childhood Education Diploma

Students who have graduated in the past three years from the Early Childhood Education diploma program at Seneca College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements may be considered for admission to enrol in the BA in Educational Studies program, or any BA program at York and granted a total block of 45 transfer credits. Therefore, transferring students will be required to complete a minimum of 75 credits to meet the degree requirements for the Honours BA.

Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma

Students currently enrolled in the Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma at Seneca College may be considered eligible for admission.

Graduates from the Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma at Seneca College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and who have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements, will be granted a block of 45 credits when entering the BA or BSc Honours in Kinesiology in the Faculty of Health or any other undergraduate Faculty at York University. Advising specific to the additional BSc requirements will be provided upon admission. Students applying to the Kinesiology program will be considered to have met the Biology admission requirement (SBI4U). For admission to the BSc program students must present the following prerequisites: Math12U and Chemistry (SCH4U) or Physics (SPH4U).

Depending on the electives chosen in the Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma at Seneca College and the desired program at York University, a student may need to complete more than the minimum of 75 credits toward a total of 120 credits required to graduate from York University.

Independent Illustration Diploma

Students who have graduated in the past three years from the Independent Illustration Diploma program at Seneca College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements may be considered for admission to enrol and granted a total block of 48 transfer credits. Therefore, transferring students will be required to complete a minimum of 72 credits to meet the degree requirements for the Honours BA. Applicants must also attend an entrance portfolio review conducted by a faculty member of the Department of Visual Art and Art History and be deemed successful, to be admitted to the BFA Honours program.

Seneca’s Infant and Early Child Mental Health, Graduate Certificate is open to graduates of the Honours Bachelor of Arts and Honours Bachelor of Science, (120-credit); and the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science (90-credit) Psychology degrees.

Liberal Arts Diploma

Students of Seneca's Liberal Arts Diploma who have completed one year with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) will be eligible for admission consideration.

Students will be allowed to take up to 12 credits worth of York University courses while they pursue their Liberal Arts studies at Seneca College. To be eligible, students must have completed all 1st and 2nd semester courses of the Liberal Arts program and have an overall GPA of at least 3.0 (B or 70%). Students who have completed 1st semester courses and are enrolled in 2nd semester, may be conditionally admitted with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 (B or 70%). Students must also meet any additional program specific admission requirements.

Normally upon successful completion of all requirements, students will receive 48 credits (equivalent to one and a half years of university study) for the Liberal Arts Diploma and 12 York University credits during their studies at Seneca, for a total of 60 credits.

Police Foundations Diploma

Students currently enrolled in Seneca’s Police Foundations program may be considered eligible for admission to York University to be enrolled in degree programs.

Graduates from the Police Foundations Diploma at Seneca College with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 (B or 70%) and who have met any additional program or degree specific admission requirements, will be granted a block of 36 credits when entering the BA or BSc programs in the Faculty of Health and will be deemed to have satisfied the degree requirements. Advising specific to the additional BSc requirements will be provided upon admission. Students applying to the Kinesiology program will be considered to have met the Biology admission requirement (SBI4U). For admission to the BSc program students must present the following prerequisites: Math12U and Chemistry (SCH4U) or Physics (SPH4U).

Depending on course waivers and the degree program chosen, Police Foundations students may need to complete more than the minimum of 84 credits toward a total of 120 credits required to graduate from York University.

Social Service Worker Diploma

Seneca’s three streams of Social Service Worker diploma programs: The Social Service Worker (Accelerated); Social Service Worker – Gerontology; and the Social Service Worker – Immigrants and Refugees (Accelerated) are open to specified York University Bachelor’s degree graduates.

This includes graduates of the following programs:Honours Bachelor of Arts and Honours Bachelor of Science, (120-credit), Psychology degrees; Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science (90-credit) Psychology degrees; Honours Bachelor of Health Studies & Bachelor of Health Studies; Honours Bachelor of Arts, Sociology & Bachelor of Arts, Sociology; Honours Bachelor of Arts, Kinesiology & Honours Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology; Honours, Bachelor of Public Administration; Honours Bachelor of Social Work; and the Bachelor of Social Work degrees, including students completing double majors or major/minor options.

Graduates from the above listed programs can receive transfer credit for specified courses, though a minimum of C (60—64%) is required in each course to receive transfer credits. York-Seneca Joint Program in Rehabilitation Services

The Rehabilitation Services program is offered jointly by York University and Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology. Graduates of the program normally receive a BA or BSc degree (Bachelor or Honours degrees) in Psychology from York University and a joint York/Seneca Certificate in Rehabilitation Services from Seneca College. The program is designed to provide students with an integrated education, enabling them to become effective practitioners in the field of rehabilitation. During their last two years of full-time study, students complete five full-year York and five full-year Seneca courses, as well as two full-year field placement courses (totalling 800 hours of supervised training).

In order to be eligible to apply, students must have (1) successfully completed (or be in the process of completing) 60 credits or 10 full-year university courses toward a Bachelor BA degree or 90 credits or 15 full-year university courses toward an Honours BA degree, one of which must be Introduction to Psychology (with a minimum grade of C), (2) fulfilled the General Education requirements of York University, and (3) previous employment or volunteer experience in the field of rehabilitation.
