Completed any postsecondary courses or programs?

If you are applying with previous studies, you may be eligible for transfer credit. Be sure to review admission requirements for college and university transfer applicants. You will be primarily assessed based on your most recent studies.

Apply for admission

Submit your application and admission fee by the deadline for guaranteed consideration to your chosen program(s). We strongly encourage you to apply early. Delayed or incomplete submission of an application may result in a program becoming full or fewer course enrolment options.

If you are interested in two or more schools, apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). Use the OUAC 105D form if you have completed previous postsecondary studies. If you are only applying to York, use our online application.

Send us your required documents

The documents you submit are used to assess your previous studies, work experience, language proficiency and potential required accommodation if you have a disability. Most documents can be uploaded to MyFile.

• Transcripts and grades

Official transcripts are required from all postsecondary institutions you’ve attended, even if you studied part-time or several years ago.

• Supplementary information form/evaluation

Applicants to the Schulich School of Business and Social Work program must submit a supplementary information form. Applicants to the School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD), must complete the supplementary evaluation process.

• Language proficiency requirements (if needed)

The majority of programs at the Keele campus are offered in English, while programs at our Glendon Campus are offered in a bilingual (French/English) environment. To gain admission, you must demonstrate proficiency in your program's language of instruction.

• Letter/Resumé

Mature applicants must send a resume and a one-to-two-page letter outlining:

• your reasons for wanting to attend university;
• your future career goals;
• skills and activities that have prepared you for success at university, including work or volunteer experience, professional development activities, personal study and interests; and,
• explanations/documentation for any previous poor academic performance.

• Diagnosed disability documentation 

If you have a diagnosed physical, learning or psychiatric disability, we encourage you to identify yourself during the admission process to ensure a complete evaluation.
