A review of an applicant’s holistic academic profile, from high-school to the present, is undertaken when making admission decisions. Possession of the minimum requirements or admission average ranges that are listed online or within university publications should not be viewed as a guarantee of admission. When making holistic assessments, we may consider a variety of aspects including consistency of academic results over multiple years, results in specific course prerequisites, repeated course attempts and external test scores. Certain programs may also require supplemental materials or activities (e.g. portfolio review), and generally, transcripts showing complete high-school and post-secondary attendance will be required.

Mature Students: Click here for information on required documentation.

Visiting Students: See Visiting Student admission requirements.

International applicant? Visit the Citizenship & Immigration Canada website for details about study permits, work permits and what to do before and after you arrive in Canada.

Important: For final admission, all documents must be originals (ie official) and received directly from the home institution. Conditional admission is possible with non-official documents; however, to proceed into courses, the official original transcripts must be provided before the start of classes.

Replaceable documents become the property of York University and will not be returned. We keep supporting documents for one year, after which we destroy materials related to your application.

If request is made in writing to Admissions upon application, irreplaceable documents will be returned to the original document holder.

The Senate Policy on Academic Honesty applies to applicants to York University and any submission of documentation be found to be false or modified without authorization is a breach of the policy and will lead to charges under the policy.  Penalties can range from withdrawal of an offer of admission to expulsion to rescission of a degree.

Applicants who choose to work with an agent or immigration consultant during the process of submitting their applications and required documents to York University for admission consideration are fully responsible for the accuracy of their applications content and all related materials.
