If an applicant believes their academic record may not meet the minimum admission requirements for their program of choice, we invite you to submit an explanation of unexpected events or barriers that may have impacted your academic performance. Your submission will be reviewed if you do not meet the minimum admission requirements.
York recognizes that many factors should be taken into consideration when making a decision that impacts an applicant's post-secondary future.
*Submitting this form does not guarantee admission to your preferred program.
Applicants with Diagnosed Disabilities
Students with autism, chronic health and mental health conditions, learning disabilities, attention disorders (ADD and ADHD), physical, sensory and medical disabilities who would like to discuss an individualized academic accommodation plan, are encouraged to register with York’s Student Accessibility Services (SAS) as soon as you accept an offer of admission from the University.
Visit the New Students section of the Student Accessibility Services website for information about how to register with SAS. Connecting with an accessibility counsellor at the earliest possible moment helps ensure the arrangement of your academic accommodations in time for the start of classes.
Academic accommodations at York are determined on an individual basis to address disability related barriers that prohibit accessing materials in a course and the demonstration of knowledge and skills. Accommodations are designed to provide equitable access to education for students with disabilities.
In determining your academic accommodations, documentation from a health care practitioner will be considered along with:
- The essential requirements and learning objectives of your courses/program
- Information you have shared with Student Accessibility Services about your past learning experiences
- Provincial best practices
Please note that admission to York University does not guarantee provision of the academic accommodations in place prior to coming to York.
